Robert G. Johnson

 

Robert J. JohnsonROBERT G. JOHNSON is of counsel with Sedey Harper after a long career at the St. Louis Regional Office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Mr. Johnson began as a Trial Attorney at the Commission, trying individual and class cases in federal courts in Missouri, Illinois, and North Carolina. He also negotiated multi-million dollar Consent Decrees in cases against Goodyear and McDonnell-Douglas.

From 1995 to 2007, Mr. Johnson served as the Regional Attorney of the St. Louis District Office of the EEOC. During his tenure directing the work of the St. Louis legal staff, the office litigated numerous significant cases, large and small, involving employment discrimination based on race, sex, national origin, religion, age, disability and retaliation.

Upon his retirement from the EEOC on March 31, 2007, the Commission honored Johnson with a Resolution stating that he had “dedicated his life to serving the public interest” and thanking him “for his example, commitment, and lasting contributions to the mission and accomplishments of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.”

Mr. Johnson is a fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, and received the Clarence Darrow Public Interest Advocate Award from St. Louis University School of Law in 2007. He is a member of the Executive Board of St. Louis Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association.

Mr. Johnson graduated summa cum laude from St. Louis University and obtained his law degree from New York University School of Law. He was a law clerk to U.S. Circuit Judge Myron H. Bright of the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals and to U.S. District Judge Edward R. Neaher in the Eastern District of New York.
